And this is where the problem begins: leather on steering wheels is one of the most stressed areas in a vehicle. Neglecting it not only risks visual defects, but also an unpleasant grip.

Why steering wheels need special care

Unlike seats or door panels, the stress on the steering wheel is not just occasional, but constant. The consequences:

• Skin oils and sweat penetrate deep into the pores
• The surface becomes shiny or sticky
• Colour layers peel off, leather becomes brittle or cracked

Cleaning: The first step to new shine

Before you even think about care or colour, the leather must be thoroughly cleaned. Avoid aggressive all-purpose cleaners – they cause more damage than they help.

Important to know: A refresh does not replace a complete re-dyeing. The result is a well-groomed, authentic look – not brand-new leather. For a flawless finish we recommend professional refinishing or replacement by a saddler if areas are heavily damaged.
