When Jeans Leave Marks – How to Safely Remove Discolouration from Car Leather

Why jeans rub off on leather
Textiles such as jeans, belts or dark jackets release colour pigments when rubbed. Light smooth leathers are particularly affected – whether in luxury cars, classic roadsters or modern SUVs. The fine pigments settle in the top layer of the leather. If no action is taken in time, they penetrate deeper and can hardly be removed.
The faster, the better
The most important tip upfront: Act quickly. Fresh discolourations can often still be removed completely – older residues, however, are usually much more stubborn. Therefore:
